i have just come acoss an old bank book from 1969 with £9.0.0 pre decimal does anyone know should i just throw it away

Assuming it's not been cashed out in the meantime, Lloyds (who took over TSB) should be able to give you the cash, plus interest. It won't be that much - and may take a while - but better in your pocket than theirs
