What type of horses are used for show jumping, are they special?

Almost any horse can be taught to jump, but obviously the heavier breeds find it more difficult than the more althletic types. There are a lot of thoroughbred X's competing, which are good for speed and agility, but also many other types, dutch warmbloods, hanovarians, and many, many others, so it's down to agility, speed and temperament rather than a set...

usually hunter types for adult competition. I think they are known as warmbloods now
Here in the U.S., the majority of show jumpers are Thoroughbreds. Additionally, at least here, the term Warmblooded is not an actual breed. but rather a classification as opposed to cold bloods and hot bloods...

Any horse can show jump as long as they're good at it. Hope this helps
