I am trying to find out about a relative who died in 1917. He was returned to England after being injured and was sent to a hospital in Edgbaston Birmingham where he later died. Is there any organisation that I could obtain information from of his death,ie:- what was the cause of his death, injury etc. Or would I have to obtain the death certificate itself. Many thanks for any help.

his army record will probably be available from ancestry.co.uk, he probably isn't on the CWG site as he is not buried overseas. his death certificate would be available from here:

cost £9.00, just need the district year quarter and ref. if you can't get the details for applying yourself i could check, could check...

I'm assuming it was a war related death. Why not try Ancestry and war office sites.

go on here and anyone who died in ww1 or ww2 is on here. Dont know if it covers those who died at home from injuries but its a start.
