Just put on first coat, instructions say 'touch dry in 2 hours', but recommends 4 hours until second coat can go on. Do I really have to wait this long as I would quite like a pint!

Well, the good news is that you can go to the pub. If you put the second coat on too soon it'll start to lift the first one.
The bad news is that if you're using a roller you'll get spray in your new gloss paint.
I now refer you back to the good news. :)

Can you not just go to the pub for the 4 hours, and start again when you get back?
What kind of paint are you using?

just emulsion today, done most of the glossing etc yesterday. BIGJACK - I get ideas in my head whilst drinking, start to think I am Interior Designer Extraordinaire. Only to wake up the next day and find more of an 'abstract' effect. Not good!
