Have just added a new (used) monitor. The grandchild was fiddling with it. I can change the size of the text etc on the screen eg. the google page. I use the method holding down the control key and using the wheel on the mouse. However this method does not increase or decrease the size of the text on the tool bars or the icons on the desk top. Any help please?

On your desktop, right click an unused area. Then go to "properties", "settings" and adjust your screen resolution, using the slider, there. Because of my poor eyesight mine is set to 800*600. Have a play and find one to suit you.

Have you set the display resolution to the same value as your monitor?
Can you top use "tools" (the cog icon) and then zoom?
