try thru your own insurance company.we did and our aa cover is only £8 all in
Or Google who offers the service. For what it is worth I'm with Britannia Rescue for this year. No idea what their rates are for 80 year olds though. Do any of the comparison sites cover recovery ?
I buy my rac with tesco points, makes it really cheap
Age UK do one - not sure how competitive it is but may be worth a look

I use these people

http://www.motoringassist.com/breakdown/

Very efficient at recovering my bike when I had a puncture a couple of weeks ago.
The mention of age uk made me wonder if this lot were worth checking with http://www.saga.co.uk.../breakdown-cover.aspx
Again - typical :-p

That's why they inpose a speed limit of 7o.
I personally think anyone not competent to understand a humax box is probably too stupid to be allowed on the roads ...

You are entitled to your opinion - but this is not the place to air it - hence my grumpy reply.

This question is a request for useful information about breakdown services - your comment was rude and unnecessary.

If you want a debate on maximum driving ages, then start a fresh thread either here in Motoring or (more appropriately perhaps) in ChatterBank.

Many thanks to all of you for the useful information.
I will try them out tomorrow.
Here wishing you all a good long life and hope you
will be driving in your eighties

I've just passed the Institute of Advanced Motorists' test and am 79 years old. Should I chuck in my licence next year ?

Please do not generalise.

Compare the insurance rates for a 20 year old male and an 80 year old male. Rates are based on accident statistics for the relevant age groups. I think you will find the 20 yr old will pay over 5 times what the 80 yr old pays. I know who I'd rather be driven by.
Try applying via Tesco - it's RAC cover but at a reduced price.
