I like to view random items as they're 'finishing' in the Ebay auction but it seems i must selectd a category beforehand. How can I view items finishing from all categories?

Thanks ojread2, that's perfect
Just leave the category box blank and do an 'ending soonest' search.
Another way is to go to 'going going gone' on the site map under 'other ways to find things'
You can set it to 'ending in the next hour' to 'ending in the next 24 hours' and click on the category that intrests you.
I do not know of a way to see all items ending soon you have to select a category. There are around 24 million items on ebay at anyone time so there are going to be too many to look at 'random'
jomfil / ojread leaving the search box blank in 'ending soonest' and 'grab a bargain' just sends you straight to the 'choose a category' page. I just tried it.
Apologies Eddie, you are correct, I have done open searches under main categories such as photograhy or collectables which work fine. I hadn't considered looking at everything as so many of the categories are of little or no interest to me.
Not quite part of the question , but a good way to see loads of 'random' stuff on ebay is to search for a common word in all categories , the word 'old' works well but you can choose a word that relates to yur area of intrest. To look for jewllery / watches for example put 'Gold' in the search bar.
