How would you make friends that didn't involve going to church or joining a dating agency? You are not allowed to say social media sites such as Face Book. There is no prize for answering this question, I'm just incredibly bored and the dilemma entered my head:)

"where would you start?"

I wouldn't. I'm basically far too lazy and anti social. Think i'd just get lots of cats, dress them up as babies and wheel those round the streets in prams.

I'm a talkaholic so wherever I went I would find someone to talk to. I would soon get a new best friend. It's the ability to share that gets you friends.
Fine pdust and thanks. Cannot deny there hasn't been the odd spark.
net blokes that hide-n-scive at the golf course; they all wanna up your handicap :)
Take a book to the pub.

I hope this gets marked as best answer.
Why thank you Mr Ed! The worrying thing is...I wasn't joking ;-)

Is that a good way to make new friends? Becoming known as the local loony?
join an art, pottery class, even if not that interested, a new hobby say, or take up dancing, whichever type you prefer. It depends on whether the idea is not only to make new friends, but find a partner, which can be a lot more difficult. I would not join facebook or any of that nonsense anyway.
If you are bored, then visit someone in hospital, or be a volunteer it's funny how that has a way of making you see things differently, when one is not so self absorbed.
For "loony" ... read "eccentric"
Who'd want to make friends Jayne? Pretending to be nice to folk you hardly know? Narrr, no thank you! I do that at work, and that's only because I'm paid to be.

Perhaps i'm really not the best person to comment on this post am I? LOL
Agree joining classes, utilising groups and societies where my interests lie, be friendly and open to opportunities, wouldn't get a dog but would dog walk for a local shelter all the chat up potential none of the expense
agree with Boo though, i reckon that i'm past caring.
I'd probably just bury myself in work, get another cat, go to a couple of gym classes and continue to socialise with the friends I do have. I wouldn't be ar$ed about making new friends, if I did that's nice but if not then that is also fine, I've a few close friends and they're enough.
And theres always virtual relationships on here
Go to parties.

Half the pubs and restaurants in town are sdvertising Burns' Night functions. Go to one. Buy two tickets, go on your own, and pretend your friend let you down.
