entry for what? a holiday?

if youve been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude then you will not be eligible for a visa waiver scheme (esta) for a holiday from the UK. heres a list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_turpitude

a simple caution is still a conviction.

anyone convicted of those crimes listed should apply for a visa, according to the US

I reckon that the police should go around schools doing talks on crime and punishment. Forget talk of prisons, advise everyone that trips to disney will be impossible if they commit crimes. It would probably halve the crime rates over the years :)
