I was just wondering,considering whats in the news at the moment,what is the pension package that politicians receive on retirement.

Chaffinch, the majority of civil servants are not politicians, and don't have a fat cat salary that our pensions will be based on.

Having run a pension scheme in a plc for some years, I can say that the Public service pensions are at least as good as the very best in UK.

What would you expect from MPs, who vote their own benefits?

Does anyone know how much Tony gets, or what an MP who "served" 5 years would receive?

There's a special fund for ex-PMs John Major set it up to fund their public appearances and correspondance duties.

Tony Blair Claimed £169,000 from this but Maggie Thatcher has claimed over half a million despite not doing any public duties on health advice!

Members of Parliament belong to the parliamentary pension scheme. This is a final salary scheme with
a current accrual rate of 1/40th or 1/50th. It is a contributory pension with the contribution rate now set at
10% (40th accrual) and 6% (50th accrual) of salary

I am talking about Uk politicians,if the government are looking at peoples pensions,shouldnt they be also be looking at there own.
