MFR has been on the Inverness (Mounteagle) DAB multiplex for many years - http://www.ukfree.tv/dabtx.php?tx=NH639580

Just checked and it's still there on my radio 50 miles away with an indoor antenna.

Are you sure that the station in question broadcasts a digital signal? Some (many?) local stations don't.
SIte here

No indication of a DAB channel that I saw
...and, given the size of the area covered, I'm not surprised! It is, after all, a local station and in not digital-signal-friendly territory.

There you are then - I apologise. Perhaps it's a poor aerial? Or, you're in an "awkward spot".
I'd recommend FM over most DAB any day.
