Would you keep your baby/child away from its grandma and grandad just because they smoke?

I am a smoker, see my grndsons daily!........never smoke inside when they are here!.....would never!.....
I lived with my grand parents. At one point my grandad smoked 80 fags a day. If I needed to escape it I went downstairs into the 'less' smokey pub.
I'd smoke to keep the little buggers away...............
Well done, welshy. You are obviously one of the sensible and considerate ones.
thanks starbuck!....when I feel the need for a cigarette, I go into the garden, would never smoke inside when they are here!..............
To be fair what is considered unacceptable these days was not so even 20 years ago. I had quite a job telling my mother not to smoke round my daughter, she took offence even.
Yes she does see them , after a battle of wills, she now smokes outside.
prudie, twenty years ago it was very different, lots of folk didn't realise the implications!..........but we do these days!.........
I know welsh, I was just pointing out that lots of grandparents are from an era when smoking had little negative implications. Present company excepted of course!
True prudie, very true!...........
Thirty years ago it was a quite different world. I would never smoke in the house when my granddaughter is here but probably had a ciggie while I was breast feeding my son, now 31 years old. There were smoking rooms Inside hospitals too.

Despite the fact that we've been bombarded with anti-smoking propaganda in recent years, there are still an awful lot of people around who smoke. Judging by the various comments here, there must be a lot of families falling out over this issue.
I used to smoke but would never think of lihting up in front of children. When I visited them, or they visited me I would do without while we were together.
I remember smoking rooms in hospitals too Chrissa, had an op about 23 years ago, and there wa a smoking room then, or the nurse would take you outside for a cig if you preferred!.............
Ee, those were the days. Cough.
When I had my daughter 40 years ago you could smoke in your bed in the maternity ward!!

I think we were fed a certain amount of rubbish regarding smoking while pregnant or breast feeding. Thirty-three years ago, when I was expecting my first son, I had never smoked in my life. He was a scrawny little thing, and has suffered with asthma all his life. By the time I became pregnant with my second son, 28 years ago, I was an enthusiastic smoker and I smoked throughout the pregnancy. He was over 10lbs at birth, and has grown into a great 6t 2in hulk who has never had a day's illness in his life (except for a broken arm, which doesn't count).
craft, don't remember that, but can quite believe it!....
yes...absolutely....halifax girl slept over at her friend's the other week - she came back stinking of fags...she won't have a sleepover there again.
My fiances cousin recently had a baby - and they have put down 3 rules for his mum (my OHs auntie).

She is not allowed to smoke for 2 hours before visiting their house.
She has a different set of clothes to wear when she visits.
She has to wash her hair before she visits.

Recently she went there having followed all the rules, and they still complained they could smell smoke on her hair.

I feel sorry for the baby to be honest!
As well as my OHs aunt as she has been very upset by it all.
