im just wondering if anyone has there symptoms and what medication you take or what your doctor has said. My mum is 40 had migrains about twice a month since her 20s but the last few months she has a migrain id say 4 days out of 7 every week. She gets sick and dizzy, says it feels like the left side of her head doesnt belong to her like its not there and someone has an elasticband around her head and its being pulled really tight and she feels like there is no skull she could touch her brain but obviously she cant. She takes maxalt melt, she told the doctor he said he isnt sending her for a scan becus she has had migrains all her life and if anythin was wrong she would be dead by now, im really worried about her. She cant go out the house if its sunny cus this will start it off, shes nearly fainting sometime cus the room spins.

Someone such as sqad will come on and help I'm sure but can't believe your mother can't be sent to a specialist who would suggest some more appropriate medication if current one not helping, it sounds very debilitating.
She should see a different doctor if her regular one is not helping
can she see another GP at the surgery for a second opinion
The reason that her doctor is not sending her for a brain scan is quite correct.

She sounds as though she has developed Menieres Disease, something quite different from migraine.

She needs referral to an ENT surgeon.
