Windows Explorer status(?) bar

I just had to reinstall Windows XP and I'm missing something I got used to before

In Windows Explorer (or My Computer) when I selected a file, the status(?) bar at the bottom showed me things like when the file was last access and how big it is

Now it doesn't do that

I've looked for an option to turn on, but have come up blank

Hopefully someone out there knows what I mean and knows hoe to re-enable it!

Thanks
