Hi,

Could anyone tell me, please, how to say "Bewick"? Is it "bee" (as in honey) and "wick" as in candle, or is it like Berwick-upon-Tweed with a bit of a lisp?

I'd love to know, birdwatchers!

Thanks for that. It's like "Buick", the American car, then.
spot on.
first part of beautiful with wick at the end.
Bewick's Swan was named in honour of Thomas Bewick, a noted English engraver of birds and animals. He was born in Northumberland, one of two English counties to contain villages named Bewick. The surname most probably derives from these settlements and has variants Bewicke, Bewike, Buik and Buick.

Arbroath born David Dunbar Buick was founder of the Buick Motor Company.
