How does it work ? My friends just asked me to get an account so I can talk to her for nothing, so I have. But I don't get it ?? Do you ?

Some people love Skype; others are less enthusiastic.

Basically, if you're connected to the internet, you're constantly sending and receiving data to and from it. If your friend is also connected to the internet, so is she. Skype slows down your computer, well that's my experience and I've uninstalled it.
Some people love Skype; others are less enthusiastic.

Basically, if you're connected to the internet, you're constantly sending and receiving data to and from it. If your friend is also connected to the internet, so is she. Neither of you are paying anything (other than your normal ISP subscription fees) for doing so. All that Skype does is to let you send data (i.e. your voice) to the internet, so that it can be forwarded to your friend (and, of course, vice versa).

If you also instal a webcam you can see and talk to the person. Very helpful if you have hearing difficulties
I use it 3/4 times a week to talk with my daughters in Aussie and Hong Kong. I think its good and its easy just like MSN.
