I've just been down to the pond and have noticed that one of my fantails has a horrible lump on it's side - any ideas what it can be? I've looked on google but can't see anything. It's still lively and feeding - should I isolate it? Any advice welcome.

Couldn't possibly be pregnant?

No mollykins - it looks like an ulcer or something similar - it's just one side.

Thanks, I shall have to see what I can find out. It can't feel that bad it's very lively!
yes you can put it in some salt water we dose our pond spring and autumn, pond dosage is1oz of salt per 10gallon of water our pond holds roughly 1000 gallons so we use a 3kg bag of salt , dose 3 times at 12 hour intervals its a good all round medication for the pond

The treatment for ectoparasite is effective but note that this dose is only for temporary immersion treatment.
