First of all you need to calm down and stop duplicating your posts, it's all fixable.
One step at a time.
On your old monitor, were you using its built in speakers or separate ones?

How come you've suddenly gone from B&W to colour, AP? Never mind, you've missed all the fun, trolls and handbags have been running riot. Think they've all calmed down now. Where were you when you were needed?
Ah yes, I wondered if anyone would notice :-) I digitally re-mastered the old pic - if it looks odd, that's because I'm colour blind.

Trolls? Handbags? Was anyone banned/suspended/killed ?!
yes, all three. But i await the resurrection.
Was AOG or Prudentia involved?
Not at all. A troll who reappeared under many disguises accusing certain ABers of foul incestuous practices, and who lives on the moon. Funnily enough, when I asked him for some advice on handbag etiquette he went strangely quiet.
Ah, I assume JTH's perrennial stalker !
I wonder what happened to my one. I wonder if he buggered of after I did some 'detective work'.

You don't say what it is that you installed, but whatever 'it' is seems to have knocked off your connection to the speakers.
At the bottom of the screen you should see a little loudspeaker icon. Right click that and you'll get a pop-up box with some choices, one of which should be 'playback devices' Left click that and you should see two or more choices of speaker output. The one it's currently set to (default) will have a tick along side it. This is most likely the ones you did not want to use. Click on one of the other ones to make them live and try again. Hope this helps.
It may seem obvious, but does your new monitor actually have built-in speakers?
Have you installed the latest drivers for it from the manufacturer's website?
