I am new to this. I have been using a cheap gamepad as a controller but find it is not much good for the old classic shooting games like Operation Wolf and Lethal Enforcers. It is difficult to aim quickly and accurately. Should I get a joystick or would it be possible to get a usb gun of some kind? What do you suggest is best? Thanks

I'm a touch behind at the mo, I'm using MameUIFX32 Version 0.137.

From the GUI (Before you start any games) select 'Options' then 'Default game options', then select 'Controllers' and tick the 'Enable Mouse' option. Then pick 'Controller Mapping' then change 'Lightgun Mapping' to mouse.

Some games just don't translate well to MAME. Not sure if you can get a USB gun to be compatible with MAME but would be keen to know if you can.

You can alter the cursor speed in the options to make it a bit faster. This was the best solution I found.

Apparently you can get an EMS TopGun II firing device at www.play-asia.com but it's about £50.
Nce one but I don't fancy spending £50 on it.
keypad for movement 'Alt' for fire. I'm sure you can use the mouse for games such as Marble Madness and Clay Pigeon shoot ?
You can't move the mouse with MAME. It's supposed to emulate the games in the amusement arcades and they didn't use mice.
Use the mouse option to mimic the gun pointing at the screen with a crosshair.
Works great.

Thanks for the suggestion Daisho. How do you set this option?
I would also be interested to know how this is done.

Thanks ever so much - it works a treat GREAT !!!!!
You are welcome. It is also a good way to set up analogue controls on driving games such as Hard Drivin. With a bit of work and tweaking you'll be driving along in no time.
