Is there any way to split your friends into categories on facebook? I'd like to add some people for games, but i dont want them in my friends list, or to appear on the same news feed as friends

Yes you can sort them into lists. Go into the friends page of your account and create a new list. You can then edit what people on that list have access to on your pages.
