I've got a squirrel proof bird feeder which has a plastic seed tube inside the ball with holes at the bottom to allow the seeds to drop down. I've twice found a sparrow with its head stuck in this hole while trying to get the last of the seeds. Has anyone experienced this? It could of course be the same daft sparrow doing it twice!

Measure the hole, go to your closest plumbing supplies merchant and ask for some rubber/plastic washers with a slightly smaller hole than the measurement. It has to be a heartless person to charge you for these considering the purpose.

A couple of spots of glue and your problem is fixed.

I suppose steel washers will do the same but will be impossible...

I suppose steel washers will do the same but will be impossible to bend to the curve.
