Tokai guitar

Ive just bought a Tokai Goldstar Strat at a boot sale in Glasgow for �27 (yes 27 quid.) I intended to use it as a spare/practice axe but my mates reckon its worth more than my stage guitars. What is the story about these guitars in reference to a lawsuit? Was it because it ripped off the Fender original and are these banjos really that good? Ive already been offered 200 smackers for it.

Thanks Richard and Ludwig. The lawsuit article was interesting cos i recently met a guy in New Jersey (at a blues jam in the Scotland Yard pub) who was playing a Tokai Love Rock guitar. I thought it was just another cheap copy but seemingly these guitars are very popular and much revered instruments in their own right. I wont know how mine sounds until ive had the plumbing and electrics redone but it appears ive got a bit of a bargain here! Incidently SKA. Im already a wee bit famous and a big bit rich. He He He!!!

Definately looks like you got a bargain glesga. I own an american standard Tele and I knew nothing about these Tokai copies. I must admit If I'd seen your strat in a boot sale I would have assumed it to be a cheapo copy and wouldn't have given it a second thought even at �27 - still you learn something new every day as the saying goes.

Hey buddy you got a great deal there, if the serial Nr. starts JV your looking at a 1000+ Euro Guitar! we have an 80s Tokai in stock its battered but still listed at 750 Euros!!!
