She has been introduced to the great outdoors but not knowing her outdoor habits she is teaching me😀.

During the day time she will sit on the door step watching I assume birds in the garden, trees blowing in the wind and seems quite happy, BUT come darkness she will go out and will not respond to treat noises or my voice until next morning when I open the door and call her name in she comes eats and pops into bed for a good sleep.Should I try to alter this by stopping her going out at night time?

Cats are crepuscular, meaning that they're naturally most active at dusk and dawn.  That's when your cat will want to be outside hunting.  (Female cats especially need to fulfil their urge to hunt).  If you're able to get a cat flap fitted to your door, then that's the best way forward because your cat will be able to choose where she wants to be at any given...

Cats are crepuscular, meaning that they're naturally most active at dusk and dawn.  That's when your cat will want to be outside hunting.  (Female cats especially need to fulfil their urge to hunt).

If you're able to get a cat flap fitted to your door, then that's the best way forward because your cat will be able to choose where she wants to be at any given time.  Otherwise though, just let her stay outside at night if that's what she wants to do.

Personally I would, I hate my cats out at night and always tried to get them before dark.

I would never get a cat flap again after Brice, he wanted to be outside and ended up being run over.

cats are startled by headlights are are more easily harmed at night

I always liked to have my cat indoors at night but, if she did stay out late and I called out to her, I was completely ignored!  They probably see things in the darkness that we don't?

It's a long time since I had a cat 😥 but I never let her stay out at night if it was cold. Ok, I know they have fur coats.

I was lucky with her as all I had to do was ch ch ch ch ch ch and I would hear her answer me even if she was quite a way away and then just wait for her to come bounding in.

Night time is when they are more likely to get killed on the roads.  For my two cats.  I had a special cat flap fitted in the door which could be set for when they came in and out.  They wore a small monitor on their collars which I set at different times winter and summer so that once they came in at night they couldn't get out again until the time I had set for the next day.  These are especially useful in Spring when the baby birds are out feeding early. I would keep them in until about 9am during that period.  Have a look on Amazon I'm sure you'll find something suitable.  Our garden birds are precious and their numbers are diminishing each year,  They need our help, this is one way of doing it as well as keeping your cat safe:-)
