I have had my email address for some years (do not use it for business). Over the last few months I have endured increasing spam up to 30 a day and some of them threatening and nasty saying they would send details of my searches etc to my contacts - I have done nothing wrong but am increasingly worried. Have tried everything on gmails like blocking and reporting phihing but still they come!
I am told the only way is to change my email address which is a bit long winded but I could do that. If I do should I go away from using my name as part of the email.
Any help is appreciated.
I did have a hotmail address some years ago which I never use now but believe this is now outlook
Thanks

Now the weird bit. I have G mail but only have it for the toob and whatnot. To get the gmail contacts in outlook you have to export them from gmail to what is called a file that is called a CSV file.(comma separated values) Now to get it there you need to go into gmail settings and EXPORT you contacts to such a file and save it on you pc. I think you should be able to save all of the contacts or choose which ones. You will probably be asked to name the file and choose where to put it. Remember where and what you called it. Now open the outlook tab again and open the contacts file. The contacts file is the profile of two people top left. In there you can add or remove contacts. In your case now click on the "Manage Contacts" chevron "v" in the grey box in ribbon along the top of the screen. In that drop down choose IMPORT contacts. You will be importing them from the CSV file that you have named a remembered where you put them. :))
Tip. Before exporting anything from gmail check the contacts list and ensure that the spammers are not in the list. If they are delete them or they will be moving with you. Also in outlook you can choose what comes into your inbox and the rest will go to the junk folder and you can open or delete the mail individually as required. When you new mail is up and running be careful which shopping sites you allow to send "offers" and "marketing" info to you. Because "some" sell on your email to the spammers and off you go again. Phished out.
Another "tip" for outlook users. If you (like myself) prefer you emails to list in time and date order with the latest at the top, again open outlook/hotmail. When the page is displayed look for the three horizontal lines with Filter written next to them. Click on and choose sort >. In the pane that opens tick "Date" under Sort by, and "Newest on top" under Sort order.

Togo and others on Outlook
Thanks for all your help - Outlook is now working well and I thionk I have mastered it! Just one final thing please...
Because we used the NHS app previously on GMail I had to set up a separate acct for my wife as NHS would not let us access both medical details on one email! So as I have now got rid of GMail completely (no more spam!) I managed to set up another Outlook account by making same address as mine but adding .2 in the address. I know that it worked but....I when I am in my Outlook acct I ca not find how to get into the second acct!
Thanks
Moggie
moggie, I find it useful to use two different browsers, one for each email address. I don't know if it would work for you.
I currently use Edge and Brave but also like Chrome, Firefox and Vivaldi.

That's a very good idea!
Still cannot find second email
It is that cogwheel settings icon again. :))

1. In your Outlook.com mailbox click the Settings cog in the top right, then select 'View all Outlook settings'
2. Select Email from the left hand menu then the Sync email sub-menu
3. Under Connected accounts select 'Other email accounts'(This may say EMail aliases), fill in the details to connect your second account then click OK
4. Don't forget to click Save at the top!
Your second email account will then appear below your primary email account in your mailbox. No need to open two browsers and you can pin both emails and open them side by side.

I cannot find the cogwheel on my screen at all!
I have taken a screen shot of my email page but do not know how to add it to this post - I have it saved in my doc
Moggie
Cannot imagine why I'm sure. However this link may help.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-your-other-email-accounts-to-outlook-com-c5224df4-5885-4e79-91ba-523aa743f0ba?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us

Embedded in the above link you will find this page in blue.

and in there you will find "Add an alias" in Blue. right click it and choose open in new tab. It will give you this ...

Sorry to appear thick (I am 82!) but I have found the page on my account from your links which shows the alias I made for my wife correctly but......I still need to know how to switch from my primary Outlook acct to the alias.
When I had GMail it was simple but on Outlook page as there is no cog I cannot find it - but it is definitely there! I sent a test email to it and it was not returned! Can I send a screenshot and how?
Thanks again
Moggie
If you can do, so moggie ... P.S. I am 75.
Question Author
Can anyone tell me how to send the screen shot I have taken please

Thanks Togo and everyone for your patience with me over the missing cog! I had a lightbulb moment and realised that I am using Outlook via my Office 365 and that has no cog but 'basic' Outlook for PC is different - so I downloaded a free version of this and low and behold the cog is top r/h where you said it should be Togo.
So I can now toggle to either my main account or my 'Alias' account which my wife has to use for our NHS app (as only one person can use the main email)
Thanks for bearing with me on this
Moggie
Hurrah! Well done
Well done Moggie. I have been scratching my head trying to unravel why you had no "settings" cogwheel. It is good that you shared the fact that you were using email via Office 365. Anyone else doing the same, and reading this, will also know that there is a settings difference. Nice work and thank you.
