Just watched the first episode of John Stonehouse. I remember this happening at the time. My question is this - Is the representation by Matthew McFadden meant to be comedic or is he over acting. Maybe Stonehouse was a bumbling fool. I had assumed it would be an accurate representation of what took place. Discuss.

Matthew McFadden and his wife Keeley Hawes are never off TV, and now here they are together - I suppose it was just a matter of time. Only managed a few minutes of this as his acting was so poor. Stonehouse's first and second wives are still alive and very unhappy about how he is being portrayed in this.

Well that's my teeth on edge.
The Radio Times did suggest it would be done in a light hearted way. I remember the event but I did enjoy the origramme. It portrayed the gist of what happened without being a full on documentary. I thought the balance between the two was pretty good.

I remember the man. I also remember when he was Postmaster General (is that the correct title?). I didn’t know all these things about him though.
I was going to ask the same - vaguely remember it happening but no idea what his actual character was and MMcF is playing it as a bumbling fool. He was my favourite and most believable Mr Darcy which is a complete opposite so I am sure he can act. Still found it unusually entertaining so far so will stick with it..
