Not done a home delivery from Asda for a while but decided to get one today.
Got most of what i needed in the basket which came to £38.

A message popped up reminding me that if my shop was over £40 i wouldn't have to pay the £3 basket fee.

Ok i think, just added a couple of small items to take it to £41.

Well, just before its due to be delivered i get a message to say a couple of my items were now out of stock with no alternatives available.

Ok, no worries i think, until i see that i have now been charged the £3 basket fee!
This i because taking off these items that THEY dont have now reduces the shop to £39.

I think this is really unfair as its not my problem they dont have these items in stock (they should have said so on the website.)

Wont be doing anymore on line shopping with them.

They should not have charged an additional £3. This is from their website, “What is the minimum order amount? You can place an order for any amount. Gulliver - its not the delivery charge, i had to pay another £3 for that, its a surcharge if your order is under £40.
As others have said, ive had unavailable items taken off in other supermarkets but as its their fault they havent added this surcharge.

You can place an order for any amount. However, you will pay an additional £3 as a minimum basket charge if the value of the goods in your basket comes to:
•Less than £40 for delivery orders
•Less than £25 for Click & Collect orders
The £3 charge is on top of any delivery, collection, or pick and pack charges. These don’t count towards your basket total.
Delivery charges are shown on the delivery time slots when you sign in and go to book a delivery.
***You won't pay the £3 charge if we make any substitutions or something isn’t available that takes your basket contents below the minimum amount."*** (emphasis added)

When l shopped online with Tesco it was £2 if your shopping was over £40. But if something wasn’t in stock you were still charged £2, no more.
