What Type Of Cigarette Lighter Is It?

There seem to be two types of cigarette lighter: the original type that burns with a fairly gentle yellow flame and a newer type that roars (quietly) with a blue flame. How is the newer type referred to? Of less interest to me, how is the older type referred to?
