A friend of mine has Virgin and I have Freeview.
Sometimes I might watch a programme, tell her about it and she will ask which channel is it on, and I can't tell her as I know the numbers will be different.
For instance, There is a channel called W which is on Freeview No 25, but it wouldn't be that number on Virgin.
Is there somewhere you can check which number programmes are on on Virgin, Sky, Freeview etc?

You can access radio times tv listings online here https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/tv-listings/ And you can select the tab to change between free view, virgin, sky etc.

That is too complicated. Your friend can refer to Virgin channel guide
https://rxtvinfo.com/virgin-media-channel-list-uk
Radio Times lists all the channel numbers of all the platforms...as well as saying when a programme is repeated, if it is a repeat, when series are available as a "box-set" (to be watched whenever you fancy) etc etc.

Sorry, I might not have explained that very well, but gingerbee seems to know what I mean, but neither my friend or I buy TV magazines.
I know that in TV magazines it will list programmes and then say which number they are on on different providers, if that the right word?
Sorry I can't seem to explain it right.
On Freeview I have Sky Arts which is No 11 and is currently showing a prog about Elvis.
If I were to phone her and tell her , she would want to know which channel it's on on Virgin but I don't know.
Or if a friend of mine who has Sky and again I don't know what channel it would be on.

They can check on their built in tv guides.
I suppose your friends could try selecting Sky Arts from their on-screen listing.

A long shot but...

Toorak, that's exactly what I mean. BA for you.
A quick glance down the page in my link shows that Sky Arts is on Virgin channel 165, with Sky Arts HD on channel 140. (Pressing Ctrl and F together, to use your browser's search function, should make it even easier to find).

If you go to the Radio Times TV listings, clicking on 'Freeview' (near to the top of the page) shows all of the Freeview channels numbers beneath the relevant stations (down the left-hand column). Similarly, clicking on 'Virgin' will show the channel numbers for Virgin Media.

I must learn to type faster (and/or stop trying to multitask)!
