If so, were the people accepting? Or do the people there treat you like "you're taking all the jobs/properties from us"?

A friend of ours moved to Devon, thought she would struggle so built up extra savings just in case but go a job within 2 weeks, no one treats her any different.

Went on holiday to Newlyn for a week, mixed reception from the locals and I never did a stroke of work.
I think the further into Cornwall the better. The far south west still clings to the pirate ethos.
It depends where you live. If you live inland (and a lot of Cornish towns aren't very attractive) you should be OK. If you live at the coast there won't be any 'natives' there anyway and every third house will be a holiday cottage.
actually you could probably only afford to move to Cornwall if you are selling a property in London!
3/4 bed, sea views, £1 million!
Anything with a sea view in the SW costs a fortune now. I can remember when locals could afford a sea view. Not anymore.
i havent moved from london to cornwall, but i have a friend who did. She found it EXCEEDINGLY hard to get a job, even agency work, as did her husband and they struggled for a while. She is very active in her church, so i think has good relationships locally
^ There is no work there. That's why they have one of the highest poverty levels in the UK.
A shame that all the responses so far have been negative. It's a wonderful place to live.
Of course it's a wonderful place to live. Anywhere is if you have lots of money.
whereabouts in cornwall did/do you live paign?
bed: Liskeard, Menheniot and Looe.
which one did you like best? (it could be helpful to the OP)
Bed: Absolutely loved Looe. Still do.

One can always move to Plymouth...folks are friendly enough and Cornwall is just across the river.

Same as where we live, but our inland areas are attractive too. We could never afford to what is called millionaires coastline now. Personally I think Cornwall inland isn't very scenic. i used to go every year to visit a friend.
