Good evening all
I know most of you must think I'm an idiot, and I'm sure you're right. I never had a problem sending attachments to emails via Windows 7, but I cannot get this to work on Windows 10. I've looked online and followed instructions, but without success. Please could you give me a Dummies' guide to doing it? If it helps, I use Google Chrome.

We take it that the file or image is "stored" in a folder on your device in say file explorer. Who is your email provider? They all differ slightly. BT, Outlook, Gmail, etc?
What are you using to send emails? I use GMail in W10, as an example.
Not you full email address!

BT
Do you get your email by going through the internet browser - thats Webmail.

If not, then you will be using a programme - such as Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird etc.

Webmail. Sorry to be such a nuisance. Can't think straight at the moment.

Now, Left click that once and it will open file explorer. File explorer is diveded up into various folders like pictures, documents, downloads, etc etc. If you have put the document or file into documents then click on documents and find the file that is the one that you want. RIGHT click that file and choose SELECT from the top of the pop out list that appears. If it was a document that you have downloaded it will be in the downloads file, pictures in the picture file and so on. After choosing SELECT go back to your email tab and it will be sitting in the email dialogue box as a jpeg that can be opened by the recipient.

Thank you, Togo. I had previously got most of the way there, but got stuck because I didn't click on Select. Worked perfectly now. I promise I'm not usually as stupid as this, there are extenuating circumstances.

Not knowing something does not mean you are stupid, it means you don't know everything.

No-one does - if they did, the site would not be here!!
Haha tearinghair well done with that. Hope whatever is bothersome is sorted for you soon and Ta. We do not judge anyone as stupid in the tech questions, just in need of a little help. Those of us who can answer some questions are just as uncertain on other levels.

Thank you, you're all very kind. Unfortunately the problem isn't going to go away just yet. I can cope with it most of the time but today is a bad day. It will be better tomorrow.
