Hi all, I know the answer to 6 down is ‘conic’ but can’t see how the clue works. Any ideas please?

I think this is from yesterday's Daily Mail and there was a reference to cones? But it's just a thought

The clue is : Like cornets, cold, less than outstanding
C + (IC)ONIC
C (cold) + onic( on ic(e)-Less than outstanding)
i(conic)
Acornet is cone-shaped so conic
Yeah, didn't like the iconic because it wouldn't need the COLD bit
Donny, your parse omits 'cold'
