How was Wak meant to know it was an android tablet, you didn't mention it in the question and Lenovo make ideapads, which are Windows tablets. it once again goes to show if you want decent answers you have to ask a decent question.

If you search the market place there are several, you could just try a few, although tapemachine is one of the best...

Audacity is a WxWidgets application and WxWidgets is not available for Android as it is for Windows.Creating a version of Audacity without WxWidgets would require a total rewrite, so in effect it wouldn't be Audacity.I found that out.SIGH !

ChuckFickens - am i missing something? the question is "audacity or similar audio recorder for ANDROID TABLET"
Please don't argue over my reply, I wouldn't even know an android tablet if I fell over one. I just offered an alternative audio recorder in the hope that it "might" be useful.
Better than no reply at all, I would have thought!!!
Anyway, thanks for the back up, Chuck.

Thank you,c'fickens.Your suggested link solved my problem. Keep it up,guys
porting wouldn't require a total re-write, less some mupet put the ui code in the application logic, and even in that case it would only require a serious refactor.
Android UI Api is however not link much else, so porting the UI would be tricky, probably easier to write a library for the widgets that works on android using native drawing for the widgets etc.... that would also allow more apps to be ported easish too..... there are other issues with android shoddy c libraries for instance.

You could ofcourse do what I do and root your device and run ubuntu or whever on android, then you can run pretty much any linux app you want.... though you may also have to have a custom kernel on android if shared memory is needed.
