Can anyone suggest a good anti ageing facial/treatment that isnt a rip off and works? I am thinking of having a course of facials as my skin is not looking good at the moment. Has anyone had any treatments that they think really work? Do they look/feel better for having them? I am really worried about spending a lot of money and seeing no difference at the end of it! I live in Twickenham area in Middlesex and don't want to have to go far either. Suggestions please..................quick!!!!

i agree with sam...
plus most fancy creams are just temporary plumpers and fool you because they feel nice...the effect wears off though...so you may as well use cheaper stuff as its just a barrier to the elements really

i am 39 and have no wrinkles...most people dont believe i am my age...

heres what i do

i wet my face with a flannel...no soap...

I think death is the only true way to avoid ageing :)
hi there have you heard about micro dermabrasion its kinda like a really strong exfoliant but a therapist applys it using a machine it can cost from £20 and i would say depending on ur age it normally takes 10 sessions after these its like you have had a skin peel but without the pain n the horrible peeling skin it gets rid off lines and wrinkles as well as making the skin lovely and soft. once you get to this point you would just need them once a month to keep on top off them

heres what i do

i wet my face with a flannel...no soap etc...just lots of warm water...allow the water to sink in a bit...then i put on layer of e45 cream, then once thats gone i put a layer of nivea, then finally a very fine layer of vaseline... this 'seals' in the moisture...then dab that off so its not greasy (avoid areas that you get blackheads, like nose or chin)
Is it true that the skin has 16 layers and the top 5 are all dead or dying so that any moisture applied is - at best - just glueing the dead skin cells back on
If it penetrates the skin it has to be classed as a 'medicine'
So I was lead to believe
Hi, I`m in your area too. There is a clarins clinic next to John Lewis in Kingston (or is it Origins now)? Can`t remember. A friend of mine has monthly facials but to be honest I don`t see any difference in her at all afterwards. I think they are a waste of money. I think the benefit is probably in the massaging action of the facial rather than all the gunk they put on. When I can be bothered I do it myself. Clinique exfoliator is good and I just chuck on half a tub of Nivea afterwards like a face pack, then rub it off. If you want somewhere reasonable there is a little private beauty place in Surbiton called Alison Urwin. I`ve used them for skin tag removal and thread vein removal

I like the sound of this one, and thanks generally to all of you. I am a qualified therapist but haven't practised for some years. I have tried every potion known to woman and have spent a fair fortune on some 'miracle creams' - have even bought from the US some that are not available here! I like the sound of going back to the simpler methods. Will try the exfoliating, Nivea and vaseline option. My mum only ever used the original oil of ulay and my mum had lovely skin. My skin isnt bad and I certainly didnt have any wrinkles until I was around 50, so I am doing something right! However, it is just depressing to see them appearing and prevention is better and less expensive than cure!!!
i would also suggest putting a fine layer on as often as possible, such as when you are just sitting around the house when no-ones about...just slather and let it sink in
