Hello, My question is that Sky have offered me a new Sky Q box, but there are some TV programmes (local news shows that wouldn't ever be repeated) that I would like to keep from my old Sky+ box - is there any way of me keeping / transferring them to another source?

The only possible 'workarounds' are those that involve 'real time' copying. i.e. if you want to preserve a 2-hour programme, you'll have to actually play the programme for the full 2 hours, with the Sky+ box's output being fed to the input of an independent recording device (such as a DVD recorder):

As Buenchico says other than the old fashioned method of filming the screen.

Managed to get something called a video capture device, it plugs into the back of the Sky+ box, then plugs into my laptop via USB and records / copies to my laptop. It works really well, thanks to everyone especially Buenchico for the help.
