It's really difficult without any letters. I'm not even sure what the definition bit is- maybe contract ( and could be contract as in 'gets smaller' rather than an agreement). Can you try to get at least one crossing letter?

The Ladygram isn't a crossword puzzle as such. Letters from one grid become the text from a book. The author if which, is made up of the first letter of each answer, going down the grid.

I don't like this new Ladygram compiler, also the numbers are not jumbled up enough and no repeat numbers as I can see!!
