Do any of you have an indoor cycle trainer that you put your bike onto? Hubby bought me one for Christmas and will be setting it up today, is it very noisy? Just wondering which room to put it in so a not to disturb him.
Also is it very different to cycling on the road?

No I haven't got one, Rockrose ,but I suppose the main difference will be the "flat" surface so the speed/rhythym of the pedalling might be boring (for want of a better word)? Assuming your cycle has gears, I suppose you can step up the amount of effort you put into it but only when you are fit so to do.

P.S. - you won't have to wear a skid lid either ;)

Thanks ubasses
Lol Chou I hate wearing the skid lids
Something else he does, puts his computer on a shelf with a film of a cycling event. Says it relieves the boredom if he is on it for any length of time.
When Robbie Coltrane did his tv American road trip he saw a lidded cyclist and referred to the "half boiled egg on his head" :)

Yeah I thought about setting up the ipad with something motivational on it or even just a program so that I cycle for that period
Mine isn't noisy ,mind you I cycle on the lowest impact as advised by physio and have it set up on a carpeted floor in the sun room.It only makes a slight whirring noise if I up the impact.I found it boring at first so bought a gadget you can attach to the handle and slot a tablet or kindle into so I can read or watch stuff while I pedal.
we dont know how many rooms you have ?
I had one and it was not very noisy.
It was very boring though, nothing like as pleasant as road cycling.

Thanks all set up in the good parlour, put it down on a yoga mat, and yes the noise is just a loud whirring, hopefully he won’t hear it upstairs in the bedroom.
It doesn't matter if he can hear it, does it?
Question Author
