I thought I might try one of these, what are they like? what do you do with them? I am slowly working my way through some fruits that I have never had before.

Sprinkle a little salt on it and eat it. The nicest ones are the smaller orange ones called papitos or papinos Peel them of course. My oh likes then with cream as a dessert but I have mine for breakfast cut into cubes eat with a fork and a sprinkle of salt

Use it in a fresh fruit salad. lovely
curries,stew and jelly
wonderful with a little lime juice on. I get the bigger ones, slice them in two, scoop out the seeds, add a little lime juice and scoff the lot. Much better at room temperature than chilled.
Agree wolf they are not so nice chilled I also put lemon juice don't like lime.
Dice and use as a filling for a pancake, sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice.
Can't stand them. Prefer mango, avocado, guava, soursop, shaddock. And by the way, if you are offered sapodilla, plumrose or breadfruit, don't bother. Tasteless

Make sure it's ripe, remove the skin and seeds and enjoy. I do eat the seeds though.

Overripe papaya sometimes have worms. So keep this in mind when selecting papaya.
Crab or prawns go well
