Hi folks, I got into a little bit of "banter" with someone somewhere very public online and it resulted in several threats, including "...and I'm going to video it".
The person knows roughly where I live, is a total stranger and has told me "I know who you are now".
Yeah I know, silly me, please no "you shouldn't have done it/you asked for it" responses ...I know.
Should I take it seriously?
TIA
Mal

Most social media trolls are nasty, but don't necessarily intend to harm you physically. Why do you think a stranger wants to harm you?

how is "an im going to video it" a threat? video what? What exactly has been threatened? it's difficult to know whether you should take the person seriously or not - there are some complete weirdos around who might well track somebody down, but the vast majority of keyboard warriors would not. How much information have you given about yourself to this person? do you have the same username across more than 1 social media platform which could be searched for?

Thanks Bednobs. The person knows what town I live in.
Foolishly I had this conversation in a platform from which he could find my real life name (Youtube). Here is a list of some of the the threats:
"Do you always walk down that road? You should be careful"
"I know who you are now, see you in the next two weeks, can't wait"
"See you soon b**ch, I'm going to film it too"
By "it" I read that as something he may be intending to do to me.
