want to order some dvd's from Amazon, but fear like before that i get ones from USA.
found one i want but it says Region 1, does this mean its an import from the U.S as they don't play on my dvd player.

so region 1 is only for USA, Canada.

Yes - and won't play in most UK DVD players

i have four dvd's that i bought from Amazon which didn't say imports, so i'm stuck with them.

It is (sometimes) possible to hack a UK DVD player to play an R1 disc - depends on the precise make/model.

But ... there is also a possibility that you will then wind up with a machine that will *only* play R1 discs ... which is even more of a pain.

if install dvd region killer on your laptop or pc you can play any region

or as was stated you could unlock your player, to play any region with a hack via its remote control, mostly forever..as least on my panasonic dvd blu ray player, what the make and model of you player ?
