what is the legality of the enforcement agents when they take a pc or laptop as part of the payment surely the contents on these are the owners so taking them would be theft ,your bank accounts photos etc the usual stuff we all have on these ?

The pc or laptop is also the owners. Hopefully the owner will have had the sense to make back ups of his digital content and will be able to remotely wipe it. You may find this interesting: http://www.dealingwithbailiffs.co.uk/Seizure_Laptops-Computers-iPads-GamesConsoles.htm

Don't know the answer but that's a very interesting question.

If they sell this sort of stuff at auction your details could fall into anyone's hands.

I thought that last night Ivor, when they were going to take the Asian boys laptop, as he said he had all his Uni work on it, but it wasn't his debt, it was his fathers.

I would have thought, that they would have to clear the hard drive, if they were to auction it.
I haven't seen the programme but they should not take computers or other equipment used for study or employment.
