The Big Apple has everything you could want whether it’s shopping upmarket along Madison Avenue or the more bargain-friendly Fifth Avenue you will be sure to find even the juiciest of items at your fingertips.

Shopping is ripe in New York:

If you are serious about fashion and ache to shop till you drop then a visit to New York is the perfect antidote. It has been the Mecca for discerning fashionista’s and clothing connoisseurs and still remains a must-visit landmark to all who are absorbed with the delights that this vivacious city has to offer.

DKNY, Calvin Klein, Prada, Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana are just some of the names you will discover down the designer drenched streets of Madison Avenue. If you can afford the designer price tags or you are just interested in window shopping then you will enjoy the once in a lifetime experience of strutting up and down one of the most glamorous and expensively exquisite streets.

Located along Madison Avenue is the piѐce de résistance of cutting edge fashion and affordable prices, Barney’s New York. Offering the trendiest merchandise of the city's major department stores, Barney's twice-annual sales can put their fashions within reach for those with smaller budgets. This emphasises and reflects the premier luxury that is the New York district.

One of New York City's shopping institutions; Bloomingdale's can overwhelm even the most seasoned shopper. Fantastic sales and a diverse array of merchandise make it a worthwhile shopping destination. If you get hungry, Martine's chocolates on the 6th floor and the delicious frozen yogurt in the basement cafe shouldn't be missed and will revitalize you ready for more shopping.

Quite possibly the most famous department store in New York City is Macy's. The 10 floors feature a bit of everything from clothing to kitchenware. You should take a whole day to look around the store; it’s easy to spend a couple of hours in just the handbag section with the selection available. Some other tips to consider while in Macy’s are that international shoppers can get a discount card which entitles you to 11% off most purchases at the visitors centre. Every little helps.  Weekdays before lunch is the least crowded time to visit if you’re looking for a less stressful experience. Also something to bear in mind is that you can take full advantage of the baggage check/coat check if you’re planning to shop for a while.

The city that never sleeps:

Visiting the lights on Broadway whether you’re looking for an evening show or matinѐe will blow you away with the sheer brilliance, talent and variety. Located in the heart of Time Square and boasting a calming, classy ambiance with easy access to Fifth Avenue shopping and fine dining establishments.

The dining diversity in New York is extensive, with so many restaurants to choose from you will be spoilt for choice. One of the city’s best Italian restaurants, Beppe is situated between Broadway and Park Ave and as well as serving some of the best well known Italian dishes also treats its guests with the chef Cesare Casella’s luscious Tuscan fare. A tip when deciding where to wine and dine is make sure you book ahead because it has been said that life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. But sometimes in New York, life is what happens when you’re waiting for a table.

Another fantastic eatery that is an evocation of culinary delights is Bogota Latin Bistro. With a focus on Colombian food but also concentrating on providing New York’s best Mojitos and other tropical drinks with an outdoor patio area to sit and enjoy the notorious good weather. A good tip to remember is all day Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is happy hour with cheaper drinks, including their infamous cocktails.

This city has the right name - New York. Nothing ever gets old here, from the flashing lights of Broadway (the main artery of New York) to the hectic lively city nights and frenzied busy shopping streets. No other place can so convincingly claim to be the capital of capitalism, the capital of the 20th century and the capital of the world.
