EasyJet is not only famous for its great deals on short haul flights, hotels and holidays but also for its corporate colour - an "eye catching" orange. The company has recently branched out into ski accommodation, car rental, airport parking and even travel insurance.

The company was launched in 1995 by the Greek entrepreneur Stelios Haji-Ioannou with their first flights from Luton to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The following year EasyJet was to go international with flights to Amsterdam from London Luton. The company is now the UK’s largest airline with over 28 million passengers a year. Their success is based on offering the lowest fares to the most convenient airports.

In 1999 the company was the focus of the fly on the wall TV programme ‘Airline’. It showed the inner workings of the company and its interaction, both good and bad, with many of its customers. The reputation of the programme is such that it has been sold across the world. The show helped to boost Easyjet’s popularity with the UK public.

The company prides itself on its forward thinking and strives to be innovative in the industry. This can be shown by their being the first to take advantage of the newly-enlarged European Union by starting flights to Hungary and Slovenia in 2004. Also EasyJet was the first airline to unveil its design for a next generation short-haul super-clean aircraft, designed to cut CO2 emissions by 50% in 2015.

EasyJet is a founding member of Flying Matters which is a coalition of like minded businesses aiming to ensure that within the public debate proper account is taken of the economic and social benefits of aviation.

If you are unsure of your destination EasyJet offer free guides on their website to every city they fly to. Considering they have over 500 routes on their website this is a huge benefit. Each guide consists of basic facts, a map, important addresses, must-see sights, general sightseeing and entertainment.
