What are ethical or moral points to bear in mind with visiting Libya? Any experiences to share or points to consider?

no particular ethical or moral points that I can see. They're all good chums with the west again, Gaddafi is pretty popular at home though not elected the Westminster way. They haven't invaded any Arab countries recently, unlike us.

Wonderful Greek and Roman remains to visit if you like that sort of thing. You don't get pestered in the bazaars. People are friendly though not many speak English.

You can't drink alcohol there, though.
When the daughter went there on a business trip she had to wear long-sleeved blouses.........
We went to Libya a few years ago when on a cruise and found it a lovely, friendly palce. We felt absolutely safe walking round the bazaarsand met friendly, helpful people, one even bringing a friend with a calculator from a nearby bank so i could work out the cost which was minimal! of a beaded bag I wanted to buy. I wore a normal summer tee shirt and knee length skirt and didn't seem to cause any offence. It is definitely a no alchohol zone though, even cruise ships bars are closed when in Libyan waters but we were allowed to drink in our cabins
