The aeroplanes fly over my house every 5 minutes all day every day. It is driving me insane. The aeroplanes stop at approx 02.00 then restart again at 06.00.
I don't live near the airport, however I've been told this is the route the plane takes. Tough luck basically. Can I take Birmingham Airport to court as their aeroplane operations are affecting my life and disturbing my peace. My sleep is always disturbed. When I go in the garden all I hear is planes flying over every 5 minutes.

Try this link, at least you can see which aircraft are overhead and which are on the way towards you.

How long have you lived at your house?
I moved from the countryside to a town a few years back.......all I could hear was the traffic outside my window. I've largely tuned it out now, have learned how to ignore it. Have you always lived near the flight path?

Lived here 18 months now. Still can't get used to the noise.
So, you moved into the flight path of an airport and now want to sue the airport?

The airport was there first, if you didn't want the noise you shouldn't have moved there.
So, you knew it was there when you moved ?
No, of course you can't!

Of course I didn't know the house was on a flight path.
Yes the airport was there originally, but I live miles from the airport.
Of all the considerations when buying a house this wasn't on my list.

Noisy neighbours, barking dogs, people blasting their music, living on a main road might be on the list. But not aeroplanes flying over the house constantly.

I could probably put up with the plane noise if it stopped about 11 o'clock at night and the planes weren't continuous.

If they are continuous how come you didn't notice them when you were viewing the house?
well I wondered that - Gatwick's been flying at full pelt for a lot longer than 18 months.

(I remember Gatwick when I was a child, we used to go there for tea sometimes, to watch The Plane landing...)
^^ oops - I meant Birmingham in the first sentence - I lived there 20 years ago and it was pretty busy even then.
have you considered moving?

Thanks Eddie 51 that website is very informative. It is nice to have some positive helpful advice. Thats what I thought this website was about.
Yes I have considered moving, but stamp duty is phenomenal these days.
Not to mention other expenses.
-- answer removed --
crappy isn't it - stamp duty +estate agent fees are pants
I used to live on the flight path of birmingham airport, I honestly stopped noticing the planes after a few months
^^^ ditto cazz - and now have the same with the M6 - it's a pain when I notice it, but most of the time you just tune it out
I had the M5 at the bottom of my garden when I lived in Birmingham - you just get used to it.
I lived in Isleworth for a while right on the Heathrow flight path. I'd lie in bed and look up at the undercarriage of Concorde. Brilliant.
