BBC iPlayer is a video and radio streaming website, allowing users to catch up on BBC television programming that they may have missed earlier in the week.

The iPlayer was launched in 2005 in a testing stage, but was officially released for general use in 2007. The iPlayer lets users catch up on the last 7 days of BBC television, prompting the user to select a show then begin watching.

Many BBC television serials, like Doctor Who, are available on iPlayer along with a host of other content, ranging from BBC comedy panel show ‘Would I Lie to You?” to flagship news and reviews content from Newsnight.

The iPlayer is also available through Virgin Media’s digital TV packages and the Nintendo Wii’s main screen, meaning that viewers can catch up on their favourite TV programs without needing to use a computer.
