i received an e mail which says

Your Dell service contract is expiring soon - they give a date that i thought wrong
but realised its the US equivalent, so should read 3/7/21. is this something i am supposed to pay for. i tried copying the whole thing - but couldn't. has anyone experience of this or know whether i should reply..... i didn't realise i had the laptop for almost a year.

Ignore. It's basically just an ad, saying "Please pay us lots of money for an extended warranty that you don't really need". The price (based upon a thread I found on the web that's three years old, so they might want even more now) is ridiculous: 1 Year > £218.02 2 years > £348.83 3 years > £414.23

this is in part of their e mail

This is to remind you that the warranty of your Dell system will be expiring soon. Maintaining support coverage on your Dell system will help keep you up and running, while minimizing costs associated with out of warranty repairs.

Please refer to the information below regarding your service contract and support services available for your system. If you would like to upgrade or extend your warranty coverage, you can manage your warranty online or simply reply to this email for further assistance.

ouch - i don't have any insurance on the laptop, so if it goes wrong then i have no back up. but thanks for the heads up Chris, will delete e mail and stop worrying.
emmie, I had a Dell Inspiron Laptop for years with only the initial one year warranty. It went on for yeas with no trouble. Probably yours will too. If not there are plenty of places that do cheaper repair.
