Can't Access Internet

My laptop was Windows XP. Since it was reformatted I can't get the Internet. If I bought a Windows 7 disc and uploaded it, would I be able to get the internet then do you think?

Installing Windows 7 might not necessarily provide the correct driver for your laptop's wifi adapter (if, indeed, it's actually a driver problem). Far simpler, and much more likely to work:
