On my new netbook (running Windows 7 Starter) I created a password which I use when starting up or restarting the system. It was part of the initial setup. How can I now create a password to use when the laptop comes out of hibernation?

You must have a user profile, otherwise you couldn't log on at all!

The setting you need is in the power settings, as per my link above.

Only way I can think of doing it, is to log out before you put it into hibernation.
It should ask for a password on resuming, I think. ☺
"There is no password facility on return from hibernation as such."

really?

No, i don't have a screensaver password, but on a previous laptop i had a "user profile" or whatever they are called - i had to click my picture after coming out of hibernation (but i didn't have a password with it). On this netbook I don't have a picture to click - do I perhaps have to create a profile before being able to create a password to go with it?

Thank you ChuckFickens for the link - I'll follow the instructions on the site.

Now that I enabled "Password on wakeup" - what will happen when the netbook wakes up from hibernation - will it accept the same pw I created when I did the initial setup? (The "password on wakeup" process that i've just been through didn't ask me to enter or create a pw - I assume it's the same one as my original pw.)
Yes it is.
