Every so often I receive a popup message in my taskbar that says, "Your USB Composite Device can perform faster if it is plugged into a hi-speed port." I have 3 USB ports on my laptop, and this message has appeared with every one of them. I opened the Device Manager and saw that it lists about 23 of them, some of which are called "Family USB Universal Host Controller", "USB2 Enhanced Host Controller", "USB Composite Device", "USB Root Hub", etc. The problem is that I don't know which one of my 3 ports is a USb 2 (or faster) port because after using all of them they all seem the same and they all produce this pop-up from time to time.

Is the computer trying to tell me that I can upgrade to USB2 by having the hardware installed?

All the USB ports will be the same, and they will all be USB2

Sometimes that message comes up when you plug a USB1 device in, if it's that causing it ignore the message.
