I bought a new Toshiba laptop in May with Windows 8 installed. I have tried repeatedly to download the upgrade to 8.1 from the Windows store but as soon as it reaches 51% and says it is preparing my computer, the download stops and I can get no further.
I have once got an error message no. 0x80080008 but I cannot to solve the problem even through windows community. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

You are within the 12 months Guarantee period and should contact Amazon from whom you bought the laptop.

I suggest you try the following which, hopefully, will fix matters. :-

Before you try to download and install Windows 8.1 make sure that you have fully updated Windows 8 as this is very important. You could try running a repair on your updates through the Troubleshooting option and clicking on fix problems with Windows updates. The link provided will take you to the Microsoft Fix it Center which when you log on it will try to help you with your issue and if you allow it to it will carryout the fix for you remotely

Thanks folks, I have done both of these things and it seems that there are corrupt files or missing files in my Windows 8. It was already installed on my laptop I bought it in May so I have no installation disk. Can anyone tell me if Microsoft would repair this under guarantee or is it the seller, Amazon or the manufacturer, Toshiba I need to contact?
